In this video, we’re going to take a look at the effects of kale on the body. There are rumors that if you consume kale, you will get a goiter and destroy your thyroid.

There are phytochemicals in kale that can inhibit thyroid absorption if a person already has an iodine deficiency, but other than that, kale poses no known risk to your health.

There are currently 0 peer-reviewed studies that show kale causing any damage to the body. Some animal studies involving pigs have shown that kale can cause problems with the thyroid in very high, concentrated amounts. A 154-pound person would have to consume around 17 pounds of cruciferous vegetables a day to end up with a thyroid problem.

If you have any concerns about kale affecting your thyroid, just consume it with sea kelp. Sea kelp is an excellent source of iodine.

Kale has several health benefits including the following:
