In this video, we’re going to talk about the male version of PCOS. PCOS stands for polycystic ovarian syndrome.
This is when a woman has cysts on her ovaries, and an excess amount of androgens are produced.
High levels of androgens can cause:
• Facial hair growth
• Loss of hair on the top of your head
• Weight gain
• A deeper voice
• stubborn metabolism
PCOS is driven largely by chronically elevated insulin (hyperinsulinemia). The leading cause of elevated insulin is a high-carb diet.
In a man, the symptoms of high androgens are different. Take a look.
1. Androgenetic alopecia (male pattern baldness)
2. Erectile dysfunction
3. Benign prostatic hypertrophy (enlarged prostate)
Insulin is a growth-promoting factor. It makes things get bigger.
If you have any of these symptoms, it could be a result of high levels of insulin.
The most important test that doctors never do is a fasting insulin test. The second most important test is the HOMA-IR test. These will help you detect insulin resistance.
Healthy Keto and intermittent fasting are the absolute best things you can do to normalize your insulin levels. If you’re new to keto and IF, check out some of my other videos.
