In this video, I explain a cause of low testosterone that will surprise you. I’ve previously explained how high estrogen and high insulin, along with high cortisol, are three surprising reasons you develop low testosterone.

If you’re taking a statin for high cholesterol, your body may not have enough cholesterol to make testosterone. I’ve also talked before about how liver damage and low fat diets can lower your testosterone.

The symptoms of low testosterone include low libido, impotence, erectile dysfunction, and even atrophy of the testicles.

And here is the cause that will surprise you: high iron.

As you age, you accumulate more iron in your body. Your body has a difficult time getting rid of excess amounts of iron. If you’re taking an iron supplement, or eating iron fortified grains, you could be accumulating way too much iron.

I recommend getting your iron level tested to see if it’s within a normal range.

There’s a common condition called hemochromatosis, a genetic condition in which a person’s body can’t regulate iron properly, so they accumulate too much.

The symptoms of excessive iron include:

● Joint inflammation
● Excessive oxidation, especially in your arteries, which sets you up for heart problems, and in your brain, which sets you up for dementia and Alzheimer’s. Too much iron creates serious free radical damage, particularly from hydroxyl radicals that are highly destructive. Your liver is quite vulnerable to cirrhosis from free radical damage.
● Fatigue
● Memory issues
● Blood sugar problems, like diabetes

If you have any of these symptoms, get your iron levels checked. If it’s high, here are some natural remedies to lower it:

● Take IP-6, a form of phytic acid on an empty stomach
● Take EDTA, but first start with IP-6, also on an empty stomach
● Consume green tea
● Donate blood
● Avoid iron pills and foods that are rich in iron
● Do intermittent fasting
● Increase your zinc intake

Now you know a surprising cause of low testosterone.
