This video is an update on another video Dr. Berg made called “Keto on Steroids”. This is a hardcore extreme version of ketosis.
You’ll going to need Keto strips for urine test and the test strip result should be dark purple. He recommends to test yourself early morning, midday and then night and keep it consistent so that when you eat certain foods, you are going to know if you have an allergy to it or that you might have certain sensitivity in the food that knocks you out of ketosis. This is good for people with slow metabolism and those who want to lose weight fast.
CARBS – The way you get into ketosis is through the reduction of carbohydrates.
• Regular version of ketosis: recommended 20 to 50grams
• Deep ketosis – must be brought down to near 0 except the veggie carbs
• Vegetables – consume veggie because it’s going to provide the nutrition that the body needs.
• Make sure that you don’t bloat in this vegetables by adjusting the type of vegetables that you can digest.
• Vegetable fiber has zero effect on insulin. It is fed to the microbes in our gut which the microbes then make butyrate or butyric acid, which is a compound that feeds the cells of the colon and gives you energy, it also helps regulate with blood sugars.
PROTEIN
• Recommended: 3 to 6 ounces per meal
• Make sure not to go too high – when you start increasing your protein you actually start to raise insulin.
• Don’t do lean protein – can spike insulin
FAT
• Consume foods that have the protein and fat together.
• Keep it below 75 grams
• Don’t consume dairy and nuts
Intermittent Fasting
• Let your body tell you when to graduate to the next level.
• Start with 3 meals – no snacks. No snacking. Then two meals and emerged into one meal a day.
• Don’t always eat at the same exact time all the time. Let your body tell you when to eat.
• If you switch up on intermittent fasting, it keeps your body from getting into this plateau.
• Periodic Prolonged Fasting - like every week you can do at least 48 hours without eating. Or you can go one meal a day and then the next day, you don’t eat.
