Dr. Berg explains the common confusion about what specific foods will knock you out of ketosis.
3 Important Things to Consider
• Breaking A Fast – Anything other than water will break a fast. A true fast is consuming nothing but water. It is recommended to consume vitamins, minerals, and electrolytes when fasting.
• Knock You Out of Ketosis – The carbohydrates are what control whether you are in ketosis or out of ketosis. Keep your cabs 20 to 50grams and the worse the metabolism, the lower the carbs. Consuming too much protein could knock you out of ketosis.
*Ketomojo - Blood ketone and glucose monitoring systems for diabetics and people on the ketogenic diet.
An increase in the blood sugars will decrease ketones. And the decrease in blood sugars will increase ketones.
• Knock You Out of Fat-Burning – Doing a ketogenic plan, only 40% of body fuel is ketones, and the majority of fuel minus the small amount of glucose is fatty acids. The goal of doing healthy ketosis is to burn your own fat and not from dietary fat.
Keep the carbs low, do not consume too much protein, and do not consume too much fat (for slow metabolism and plateaued) to force the body to burn its own fat.
