In this video, we’re going to take a look at why you might not be able to detect ketones in your urine, even if you’re on the keto diet.

1. After you’ve adapted to fat burning through a process known as keto-adaptation, your body may be using all of your ketones for fuel. This means there will be no leftover ketones to measure in your urine. This is usually the case if you’ve been on keto for at least 2 months.

2. Keto works best when combined with intermittent fasting. If you’re not doing intermittent fasting, you may not have measurable ketones in your urine. Every time you eat, you spike insulin, which can kick you out of ketosis.

3. Adequate sleep is incredibly important for your health and is necessary for ketosis. Try getting to bed earlier or even taking a nap. An extra hour to an hour and a half of sleep makes a big difference. Try taking Sleep Aid and calcium lactate before bed if you’re having trouble getting to sleep.

4. When intermittent fasting, exercise during your fasting window rather than your eating window. This will enhance your production of human growth hormone and will also change the ketone content of your urine.
