Diets are like winning the lottery—everyone has high hopes, but it rarely pans out.

Most diets:

Part of the problem is that most people try to lose weight to get healthy instead of getting healthy to lose weight. 

Getting healthy is not:

• Low-calorie starvation diets
• Surgery
• Medications
• Sugary protein bars

Getting healthy must include nutrient-dense foods that provide all of your nutrient requirements.

Dr. Berg’s healthy keto diet means putting your body in a state of ketosis. A ketone is an alternative fuel source that gives you more than twice as much energy compared to glucose. It’s also a cleaner fuel with unique antioxidant properties.

To get into ketosis, you need to switch from eating high carb foods to eating low carb foods. Getting rid of carbs means getting rid of glucose. Your body will tap into its fat reserves once the glucose is gone. This switch from glucose to fat is called keto-adaptation. Just be sure to take electrolytes, salt, and B vitamins to avoid transitional fatigue. After about three days you’re in ketosis and your brain and body love it.
