In this video, we’re going to look at some of the reasons why you might be having trouble losing weight on keto. The key to getting results from keto and intermittent fasting is to decrease insulin.
Lowering your carb intake and decreasing your frequency of eating is the best way to lower insulin. If you’re doing 3 meals a day, try 2 meals a day. Some people need to drop to one meal a day to see significant results, especially if they're dealing with insulin resistance.
Sometimes you also have to adjust your fat intake. If your dietary fat intake is too high, your body won’t tap into your body's fat reserve.
On a ketogenic diet, dietary fat is incredibly important for cellular membranes, hormone production, brain health, and nervous system function. Dietary fat is also important for satiation so that you can go longer periods of time without feeling hungry.
As you adapt to keto and intermittent fasting, your need for dietary fat goes down. If you’re struggling with weight loss, don’t add extra fat to the diet. The fat content of the proteins that you’re consuming will be sufficient.
Although a weight loss stall can seem discouraging, there are other signs of the positive effects of keto including the following:
•Smaller waist
•Clothing fits better
•Increased energy levels
•Less hunger between meals
•Decreased cravings
•Better skin
Focusing on your sleep quantity and quality can speed up weight loss tremendously. It’s also helpful to reduce stress wherever possible to eliminate high levels of cortisol.
