In this video, we’re going to talk about gastric bypass and keto. Many people wonder if they should do intermittent fasting and keto after having gastric bypass surgery.
A gastric bypass procedure affects the stomach and the small intestine, and often inhibits their ability to function at their full capacity. Your stomach is responsible for breaking down protein and amino acids, and also helps you absorb important minerals. The small intestine controls 90% of the absorption of all your nutrients.
Keto and intermittent fasting are very beneficial for people who’ve had gastric bypass, but you should also incorporate the following:
1. Acidify the stomach - Apple cider vinegar and betaine hydrochloride can help.
2. Purified Bile Salts - This supports your gallbladder. Gastric bypass surgery alters the ability to release bile which interferes with your body’s ability to absorb fat-soluble vitamins and essential fatty acids. Purified bile salts after a meal will help you better absorb the food you’re eating.
3. Trace minerals - Liquid plant-based trace minerals are 15,000 times smaller than other forms of trace minerals which gives them a very high absorption rate.
Intermittent fasting allows your body to enter into a state of autophagy where you recycle proteins. It also significantly increases growth hormone, further preserving the body’s protein. Intermittent fasting allows your body to become more efficient.
Keto and intermittent fasting improve insulin resistance. When your cells are no longer insulin-resistant, they are better able to absorb nutrients.
Keto and intermittent fasting are not just beneficial for weight loss after gastric bypass surgery but for your overall health.
