In this video, we’re going to talk about overcoming adrenal stress with intermittent fasting. Many people go way too quickly with intermittent fasting and end up causing adrenal stress.
When you have run your body on carbohydrates all of your life, the switch to ketones can take time and be stressful on the adrenals. When you’re fully keto-adapted, the adrenal stress goes away.
Jumping into intermittent fasting too quickly will spike adrenaline and cause hypoglycemic symptoms, including:
1. Dizziness
2. Lightheadedness
3. Dry mouth
4. Fatigue
5. Weakness
6. Irritability
7. Increased cravings
8. Nervousness
When you get yourself in a state of ketosis, your body stabilizes, and you’re able to switch into fat-burning faster. So go slow until you are comfortable and you don’t experience low blood sugar symptoms.
Here’s how you can plan you keto-adaptation:
• Start with only three meals—no snacks.
• Go to three meals within an 8-hour period.
• Cut back to two meals a day within 8 hours.
• Gradually shorten your timeframe to 7, 6, 5, and 4 hours as you get more comfortable.
Do each step slowly so that you stay comfortable in each phase. You can eventually cut down to one meal if you feel comfortable.
