In this video, we’re going to talk about keto and cholesterol. Fat cells are composed of triglycerides and cholesterol. Triglycerides leave the fat cell when you’re doing keto and intermittent fasting because the body burns them as fuel.

If you still have high triglycerides while on a ketogenic diet, you may have some liver issues. Purified bile salts will help the liver heal. Rarely, the high triglycerides can also be caused by a congested gallbladder.

After the triglycerides have been released from the fat cell, the cholesterol will be released. Your body cannot use cholesterol as fuel, so it is removed through the liver and the gallbladder. Cholesterol is then broken down with the help of bile.

If you don’t have enough bile, you can develop cholesterol stones and cholesterol doesn’t leave your body as quickly and efficiently as it should. This causes high LDL cholesterol.

High LDL cholesterol on keto is not dangerous because you are healthfully removing cholesterol from your body.

Eventually, when the fat cells return to their normal size and the excess LDL cholesterol is removed from the body, your cholesterol levels will drop to a normal range. Your body is removing all of the cholesterol that was stored before you started keto and intermittent fasting.
