ACCEPTABLE FIBER: I recommend getting your fiber from vegetables mostly, but there are other sources. Inulin (from chicory root) Vegetable fiber Guar gum Psyllium husk Fiber from seeds and nuts (as in almond flour) Beta-glucans **Do not get your fiber from bran (from whole grains) as it will block the absorption of minerals like zinc. ***Benefiber is Wheat dextrin. Personally, I do not consume anything that comes from wheat.

In this video, were going to talk about IMO syrup. Is IMO syrup keto-friendly? IMO syrup: Isomaltooligosaccharides (VitaFiber) In past cooking videos, Karen and I made certain types of keto bombs or keto cookies using VitaFiber. I was operating off of some incomplete information, thinking that IMO syrup wouldn’t spike your blood sugars. When you consume fiber, which is prebiotic, it bypasses the normal digestion in the small intestine, and it gets into the large intestine. In the large intestine, your microbes break it down and make beneficial compounds. In this way, fiber does not increase your blood sugars or insulin. However, when you consume isomaltooligosaccharides (IMO syrup), it breaks up in the stomach and you get another compound called isomaltose. This compound is almost completely digested by the enzymes in the intestinal border—not the pancreas. It has been shown within 30 minutes to spike your blood glucose by 50 points and increase your insulin by 5x. There was also no hydrogen gas noted upon testing. This indicates there is no fermentation going on. * Is IMO syrup keto-friendly? I do not believe IMO on keto is a good idea anymore. I do not think IMO syrup is keto-friendly, and I do not recommend VitaFiber anymore. I will be deleting the ketogenic diet recipes that I have that include this ingredient. IMO syrup will spike your blood sugars. Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 56 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in Healthy Ketosis & Intermittent Fasting.
