In this video, I want to talk about the real purpose of fat. Lie #1 is that fat’s purpose is to provide cushioning for the body. That’s not true.

The real purpose of fat is to provide protection against the starvation of sugar fuel. The body burns sugar as the primary fuel source. Fat is used as a backup if you are starving of sugar.

This means that to burn fat, we have to starve the body of sugar. Fat burning isn’t activated until your body doesn’t have any more sugar to use.


No matter what you do, if you don’t reduce your sugar intake to zero or near zero, your body won’t go into fat-burning mode. This includes most carbohydrates aside from non-starchy vegetables.

If you do lose weight while still consuming sugar, this is going to be mostly water weight.

One last thing: let’s say you get into fat-burning mode, and then you have one cheat meal—like a doughnut or some fries—this will throw you out of fat-burning mode for at least 48 hours. Keep that in mind.
