In my opinion, the best herb for liver disease is milk thistle.

When talking about liver disease, we’re really talking about three things:
1. Fatty liver (alcoholic and nonalcoholic)
2. Cirrhosis (scar tissue)
3. Hepatitis (inflamed liver)

One of the top potential causes of a fatty liver is insulin resistance. You can develop insulin resistance from being on a high-carb diet or from consuming too much sugar. Late end-stage liver disease is irreversible. There is a point of no return.

There are not many symptoms of liver damage until it becomes very advanced. A large belly is a good indicator of a fatty liver. When the liver becomes fatty, the fat spills over into spaces in and around your other organs.

Regardless of which liver problem you have, milk thistle is a fantastic natural remedy to support the liver.

Potential benefits of milk thistle for the liver:
• It can help protect against poisons
• It may help reduce fat on the liver
• It can support liver cell regeneration
• It can decrease liver enzymes
• It can increase SOD and glutathione (important antioxidants)
• It can help lower insulin and improve insulin resistance
• It may help reduce inflammation
