2:24 USDA MyPlate explained

In this video, we’re going to compare USDA MyPlate and Healthy Ketosis. Which is the better diet?

MyPlate dietary guidelines:
• 2 to 2 1/2 cups of vegetables- 25% of your caloric intake
• Fruit- 25% of your caloric intake
• 6 to 7 oz. of grains- 40% to 60% of your daily calories (Half of these should be whole grains)
• Protein- low fat and lean proteins to make up the difference in calories
• Dairy- consume dairy every day

Healthy Ketosis dietary guidelines:
• 7 to 10 cups of vegetables
• 70% of your calories from fat
• 3 to 6 ounces of protein per meal
• 5% of your daily calories from carbohydrates (20 to 50 grams per day)

MyPlate allows the 2 cups of vegetables to come from juice, canned vegetables, iceberg lettuce, or even potatoes. Healthy Keto calls for 7 to 10 cups of leafy greens each day.

MyPlate recommends low-fat, lean protein and Healthy Keto recommends fattier proteins. The leaner a protein, the more it will spike insulin.

MyPlate dietary guidelines only require half of the recommended grains to be whole grains. This means that the other half can be refined grains. MyPlate is very high in carbohydrates and also allows GMO vegetable oils.
