In this video, we’re going to talk about the #1 sugar consumer in the world: India.
The average person in India consumes 19 lbs (8.7 Kg) of sugar every year.
This is a huge problem for India. In 2005, 25% of the population in India was overweight or obese. By 2013, that number rose to 64%.
More than 65 million people in India have type-2 diabetes, only being beat by China.
The consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages has increased from 2 liters per year in 1995 to 12 liters in 2015.
In my opinion, taxation, punishment, and force will not be the answer to lowering sugar consumption. It’s up to individuals to make healthy lifestyle changes to better their health and reduce sugar intake.
Alternative (low-carb) sugars can satisfy your cravings and help you maintain a healthy diet.
