In this video, I’m going to cover a few interesting things about vitamin D. 

Interesting things to know about vitamin D:

1. Vitamin D is stored in your fat cells. If you get too much sun, or you take too much vitamin D, the excess goes to your fat cells to be stored and used when you need it. 

2. The more fat you have, the more vitamin D you’re going to need because it’s more dispersed throughout the body. Typically, people who are obese are not getting enough vitamin D. 

3. When you have your vitamin D levels tested, they usually only test the previtamin D, not the active vitamin D. If there are any problems with your liver or kidneys, you could have a problem converting previtamin D to the active form of vitamin D. Even if your test looks normal, you may still not have enough of the active form of vitamin D.

You may need more vitamin D if: 
• You have low magnesium 
• You have low vitamin B6 
• You have low calcium 
• You have osteoporosis 
• You have inflammation (or an autoimmune disease)
• You have an infection 
• You have liver or kidney damage
