In this video, we're going to talk about MS and stem cell therapy. A stem cell is a helper cell. It's a cell that hasn't turned into any other cell, and it can turn into any cell. Stem cells also have the ability to self-renew.

Stem cells are located in different parts of the body, including the:
• Brain
• Bone marrow
• Blood and blood vessels
• Skin
• Liver

Two types of stem cell therapy:
1. aHSCT
This is an interesting strategy where your entire immune system is wiped out and then regrown to change out old white blood cells for new ones. The drawback is that chemotherapy is used to kill off your immune system because it's dysfunctional. But, they're going to give you a new one. A 2019 meta-analysis shows it's effective in reducing inflammation in the nervous system. It's effective in about 80% of cases and lasts 4-5 years.

2. MSC
With this, certain stem cells are removed from the body and injected into certain parts of the nervous system to repair the myelin sheath. When it's taken out, they have a method of increasing the stem cells' reproduction and then injecting it back in. This seems to be a promising therapy, but it is still in clinical trials.

If you have MS, there are additional things you can check out. Some research by a doctor in Brazil uses high doses of vitamin D therapy. With vitamin D, I would also add bile salts. Bile salts and vitamin D tend to reduce inflammation and may help reduce the symptoms of MS.
