In this video, we’re going to talk about the benefits of lemon water and lemon juice on keto. Lemon water decreases uric acid, which prevents gout and uric acid kidney stones.
The citrates in lemon neutralize oxalates. Oxalates are antinutrients found in spinach, cruciferous vegetables, and other foods.
One ounce of lemon juice contains only 2 grams of carbs. You’re allowed 20-50 grams of carbs per day, so lemon juice is well within the limits. Lemon juice may slightly kick you out of ketosis, but your body will quickly adapt and go right back into ketosis again.
Fresh lemons and lemon juice provide vitamin C. Bottled lemon juice is not a good source of vitamin C because it’s destroyed in the pasteurization process.
