Progesterone can be taken by women early in pregnancy either orally, vaginally, or by intramuscular injection. There are several brands of progesterone that are available: Crinone, Endometrin and Prometrium are available in the United States and Canada. Progesterone is sometimes taken after ovulation but before an embryo has implanted in the uterus. It can also be taken in early pregnancy after an embryo has implanted.
