Eye Floaters (also known as Vitreous floaters) are an eye condition involving debris floating in vision. Floaters in the eye can be a very common issue, and can increase in frequency and number with age as well as can be caused by a variety of eye conditions including retinal tear/detachment (which would cause a lot of floaters to occur), posterior uveitis, posterior vitreous detachment, and other conditions. In this lesson, we discuss the causes of eye floaters, including some of the risk factors, associated conditions and associated symptoms, along with how they are diagnosed and treated.
