Tapping and threading
Threading and tapping are the operations used to produce screw threads. Threading is an operation in which threads are produced on the outside of a component or we can call them as external threads using a die whereas, tapping is an operation in which internal threads are produced using a tool called tap.

What is the difference between tapping and threading?
A tap is used to cut or form the female portion of the mating pair (e.g. a nut). A die is used to cut or form the male portion of the mating pair (e.g. a bolt). The process of cutting or forming threads using a tap is called tapping, whereas the process using a die is called threading

Is a tapped hole threaded?
A tapped hole, also called a threaded hole, is a circular hole that has been through the drilling and tapping processes. The tapping process adds threads to the walls of the drilled hole. The process usually occurs in metal where a typical nut and bolt won't work.
