A power plant produces electric power of 600kW at 4000V, to be transported to consumers 20km away. It can be transported directly via cable or by using step-up and step-down transformers at both ends. (All currents and voltages are in rms values.)
Question: The step-up, step-down method with a cable or resistance 0.4ohm/km is used. If the number of turns in the primary to the secondary step-up transformer is 1:10, and if the power has to be provided to the consumers at 200V. What is the ratio of turns in the step-down transformer?
A) 200:1
B) 150:1
C) 100:1
D) 50:1
