We will learn the difference between the variance and the covariance. A variance (s^2) is a measure of how spread out the numbers of a data set are. A covariance (cov(x,y)) is a measure of how the trends of the 2 data sets are related. A correlation (r) is a measure of how the tends of the 2 data sets are related.
