Proper valve maintenance includes careful routine inspection, regular cleaning and lubrication of all moving parts. This also includes disassembling a valve, checking and servicing each part, and then reassembling the valve.
 
INSPECTION
 
Careful routine inspection of valves will result in early detection of malfunction and thus minimize the amount of repair.

An essential part of valve maintenance is close inspection of all valves on a regular basis.

Even valves that appear to be functioning properly should receive careful attention by maintenance personnel.

Leakage of any amount should not be overlooked.
A leak in a valve stem can be repaired quickly and easily if found in time.

This type of leak is usually fixed by tightening the packing nut or gland.

Bonnet and body leaks may occur due to loose bolts under service strain.

The bolt should simply be tightened, however, a new gasket or packing may need be inserted.
