Density, specific gravity and specific weight are useful when we need to relate mass and volume. Normally, the initial approach is using density which is mass (kg) divided by volume (m3).
Specific gravity is used to compare with respect of water @ 4ÂșC.
Specific weight is similar to specific gravity. The only change is the factor of gravity which is included. Units reported for Specific Weight are NOT the same as specific Gravity!
