Spark SQL Tutorial for Beginners

Spark SQL is Apache Spark's package for working with structured data. Spark SQL lets you query structured data inside Spark programs using SQL or a familiar Data Frame API. It is usable in Java, Scala, Python, and R.
Spark SQL combines the features of SQL and Spark programming. Many operations can only be expressed in SQL ( FILTER, JOIN, GROUP BY, AGGREGATE) when the dataset is an RDBMS. And some operations can only be enabled with Spark Programming ( Iterations, row by row processing, Machine learning). Spark SQL is a unique blend of SQL code with Spark code.
This tutorial describes in length the Spark SQL Architecture which consists of Language API, Schema RDD, and Data Sources. It describes each component in detail and compares the features of Data Frame and RDD. Finally, the tutor gives a case example. In this, the tutor demonstrates developing code using Spark SQL.
