Exadata Components
1. DB Nodes – DB Servers
2. CELL Nodes – Storage Server
3. IB Switches(Leaf and Spin)
4. Cisco Switch
5. KVM
6. PDU

Patching Tools
DB servers --- YUM patching
--- YUM patching is done with dbnodeupdate.sh shell script
Storage server --- CELL patching
--- CELL patching is done with patchmgr shell script
IB Switch --- IB Switch patching
--- CELL patching is done with patchmgr shell script
BP --- Bundle Patching
--- BP patching is done with Opatch utility
DB --- DB Patching
--- BP patching is done with catbundle.sql/datapatch
*** CPU/PSU in normal traditional RDBMS same has been replaced as BP in Exadata
dbnodeupdate.sh and dbserver.patch.zip: Updating Exadata Database Server Software using the DBNodeUpdate Utility and patchmgr (Doc ID 1553103.1)

Patching Process:
1. Need to book a patching slot with Oracle using Patching Scheduling Tool or requesting your Patch Co-Ordinator
2. Need to fill the patching template with requirement
3. Run and upload exachk report – Pre-Exachk Review (4 Weeks in Advance)
4. PA (Patch Assessment) – 4 Weeks in advance provided by Oracle
5. PP(Patch Plan) – 2 Weeks in advance provided by Oracle
6. PPC(Patch Pre-checks) – 1 Week in advance provided by Oracle
7. Patching – Executed by Oracle Engineer
8. Run and upload exachk report – Post-Exachk Review
