This drawing of this person standing looking at the sky is simple to draw. This art tutorial takes you through step by step the process of drawing a standing figure. Starting from a simple circle for the head we use this to measure the rest of the body. Once the proportions have been worked out the basic shapes of the figure are drawn in. On completing the basic shapes a more complex outline is drawn. Lots of sweeping lines create folds in the persons clothes, simply because it is the easiest way to draw them. Once the outline is completed, the time comes to apply light and shade. I explain how to create a range of tones simply by varying the pressure on the pencil. It all ends up as a great drawing that beginners and those seeking to enhance their drawing skills, can follow.
