Details of Equivalent Resistance calculation:
Equivalent resistance is the total resistance of a combination of resistors or other circuit elements that are connected in series, parallel, or a combination of both. It is a useful concept in circuit analysis because it allows the overall electrical behavior of a complex circuit to be simplified into a single resistance value.
For resistors connected in series, the equivalent resistance is the sum of the individual resistances:
R_eq = R_1 + R_2 + ... + R_n
For resistors connected in parallel, the equivalent resistance is the reciprocal of the sum of the reciprocals of the individual resistances:
1/R_eq = 1/R_1 + 1/R_2 + ... + 1/R_n
The equivalent resistance of a combination of resistors that are connected in both series and parallel can be found by breaking down the circuit into simpler sub-circuits and applying the series and parallel equations as needed.
The equivalent resistance of a circuit can also be found using Ohm's Law, which states that the current through a circuit is equal to the voltage divided by the resistance:
R_eq = V / I
where V is the voltage across the circuit and I is the current flowing through it.
Knowing the equivalent resistance of a circuit is useful for calculating the total power dissipated by the circuit, as well as for determining the voltage and current in individual components of the circuit.
We also use Star to Delta and Delta to Star conversion for calculation of equivalent resistance.
We also use property of symmetry for calculation of equivalent resistance.
