Defining Business Development Executive
The definition of business development executive: a role in an organization responsible for growth and customer acquisition. You will primarily be responsible for B2B sales and business relationships. You will mainly be talking to clients over the phone, in person or via email. Other names for a business development executive may include business development representative, bdr, business development rep, business development manager, and sales development representative.
Sales Prospecting and Lead Generation
The main job of a business development executive is sales prospecting and lead generation. In this role, you'll first need to identify your ICP - ideal customer profile to understand who exactly you are selling to. Once you come up with your ICP you'll need to reach out to these sales prospects with cold calling, cold email, or LinkedIn messages.
Qualifying Prospects
Once you generate appointments with your ICP, the next step is to get into a sales meeting and qualify these prospects to see if they will be a good fit to buy your products and services.
Closing Deals
In some cases, you'll be closing your own deals as a business development executive. But for most cases, you'll be passing off the deal to an experienced account executive who will close the deal on your behalf.
