Course Description
DNA replication,
in this course we will learn about DNA replication, the essential biological process that ensures genetic information is accurately passed from one cell to the next. We will explore the structure of DNA, the enzymes involved in replication such as helicase, DNA polymerase, primase, and ligase, and understand how replication forks form and proceed. The course will cover the differences between leading and lagging strand synthesis, the formation of Okazaki fragments, and the proofreading mechanisms that ensure accuracy. We’ll also examine the differences in replication between prokaryotes and eukaryotes, and discuss the three theoretical models of replication—conservative, semi-conservative, and dispersive—with emphasis on the experimentally proven semi-conservative model. By the end of this course, learners will have a deep understanding of the molecular mechanics behind DNA duplication and its critical role in life continuity. Bio science
